The City of Independence is excited to announce the start of a new strategic planning initiative! Strategic planning is a valuable process that helps cities map out goals and directive priorities for a community to address. While many cities approach strategic planning with only leadership involved, Independence is proud to first engage the citizens of our wonderful community and seek their input. We have hired an external consulting team and appointed a nine-member committee of volunteers to lead the charge in reaching out to the community for input. Between now and the first week in June, a survey will be available through the Independence website home page. We invite all members of the community to participate in this survey and give us your honest opinions, hopes, and dreams regarding this place we call home. The external consulting team will also facilitate a series of dialogue sessions, including a public session Wednesday, May 16th, 6 pm at the Civic Center. This session will give us all an opportunity to work together to brainstorm ideas for the future.
The input we receive from both the survey and our dialogue sessions will directly influence the development of a strategic plan that aligns with the priorities of the community.
