[ARCHIVED] City sets town hall to discuss city hall

City Hall

Following a similar presentation at the October “First Thursday” event, the City of Independence has scheduled a community meeting to further discuss the future development of city hall and a public safety facility. The town hall meeting is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at the Independence Civic Center.

Presenters will include Andy Pitts, architect and principal with the TreanorHL company, who recently facilitated the work of a community task force evaluating city hall options; and Greg Vahrenberg, a public finance expert with Piper Jaffray & Co. of Leawood. Pitts and Vahrenberg will recap the recommendations of the community task force for renovation of the original city hall building and construction of a facility to house public safety services, and they will address facility design and funding options for the project.

Time will be allotted for questions from the audience at large as well as individual citizen discussions with the presenters and city staff, as needed.

The event is open to the community, and light refreshments will be provided.
