Miniature Train

historic 1953 miniature train

The Riverside Chief has been delighting young and old alike since its arrival in 1953. This classic Allan Herschell G-16 train is a detailed, scale replica of a GM locomotive on the Santa Fe line. After decades of use, she retains most of her original parts - perhaps most notably the engine.

The most recent overhaul began in the fall of 2014 when the locomotive car as well as the original VF4 Wisconsin engine were completely dismantled, cleaned, painted, and rebuilt. Work on the passenger and observation cars is ongoing. They will receive the same level of detail and care offered the locomotive so that future generations can continue to make memories riding the rails.

The Riverside Chief can be enjoyed during the spring and summer for $0.50. Ride schedules can be found on the Park's homepage.
