A Word From The Mayor
Welcome to the official website of the City of Independence, Kansas, the friendliest town in America.
Independence is located in Montgomery County in the southeast corner of Kansas and has a population of 9,483. Independence has a strong industrial base with a "Hometown Atmosphere" and consider ourselves to be, in part, a rural community with many farming sites in the area surrounding the City.
