IPD Releases Information on Neewollah ADA Parking Locations

The Independence Police Department (IPD) announces that we have established three ADA parking areas during the Neewollah Festival.

ADA parking will be available in the following areas:

  • The south row of the municipal parking lot located on the southeast corner of Chestnut and 8th (behind Ane Mae’s, )
  • The east half of the 100 block of E. Myrtle, both sides of the street (US Post Office)
  • The municipal parking lot located on the northeast corner of 6th and Myrtle (North of 1916 City Hall, second entrance north from Myrtle, both sides of the row)

ADA parking spaces will be marked with standard signs and there will be temporarily painted stripes on the lots.  Van accessible spaces will have additional width to accommodate entry and exit from vans.

Festival goers are reminded they cannot park in any portion of any row that is marked for ADA parking without displaying ADA credentials as required by law.  Do not park in the loading/unloading areas between spaces.  All violators will be cited and towed immediately.  Chief Harrison requested everyone’s help in ensuring a safe, fun Neewollah for everyone including Americans with disabilities.  “Obeying an accessible parking sign isn’t just the law, it’s the right thing to do,” Harrison said.
