[ARCHIVED] Delay in Sanitation Services

GarbageTruck

Murphy's Law has been dealing us garbage in a big way in the Sanitation Department recently. We've had two of our largest (and most efficient) trucks break down and difficulty securing repair parts. Spikes in temperatures and humidity also have slowed our performance. We're powering through and doing everything we can to keep up with our trash routes - we've even assembled an extra crew and fired up a conventional dump truck and a backhoe as emergency back-up equipment.

The good news?
- Repair parts are expected to arrive this week.
- A new dump truck was ordered in January and though the delivery date has been delayed, we expect to receive it in August.

We so appreciate your continued patience and understanding. We know it's no fun to have trash stacking up, especially in temperatures of 90+. If you need to temporarily use an additional trash can of your own for extra capacity in this special circumstance, feel free to do so - just please be sure all trash is BAGGED! We may be delayed, but we'll get it.

If you feel you need a second poly cart on a permanent basis going forward, additional carts are available at a rate of $14.58 per month.

If you have other questions about trash services, we have a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website: https://www.independenceks.gov/FAQ.aspx?TID=20

Thank you again. Please hang in there with us!
