Police Department
The Independence Police Department is dedicated to providing the citizens of Independence with professional, progressive law enforcement. Our goal is to train our staff to provide these services in a manner that reflects the proficiency which is incumbent of today’s law enforcement agencies. We serve the citizens of our city and provide assistance to other jurisdictions when a request is made from a representative official from that area.
Employees
We currently have 21 full time sworn officer positions allocated to our department. Our department also maintains our own 24-hour dispatch center, and we are a primary safety answering point that receives and dispatches emergency 911 services to nearly 65% of the citizens of Montgomery County with an average of 15,000 calls per year.
